Run an observer.
An observer is a MeshCore node that does nothing but listen and forward every packet it hears to a regional analyzer (CoreScope). That’s where the neighbour lists, path traces and coverage scores on ChatterBack come from. One in a good spot tells the whole mesh what’s actually going on.
Before the commands
- Flash the observer firmware (not repeater, not companion) with the MeshCore web flasher. Any supported board works; a Heltec V3 or RAK4631 on a window sill is plenty.
- Give it a name:
set name YourCall-Observer, and Wi-Fi:set wifi.ssid …/set wifi.password …. - Then the region block below,
reboot, and watch for it under Observers on the analyzer.
Radio settings stay on the regional default (US: 910.525 MHz / 62.5 kHz / SF7 / CR5) - an observer on the wrong preset hears nothing.

Analyzers we pull from without a published endpoint
The IATA code is detected from each analyzer’s existing observers. The MQTT server is per-mesh and not discoverable - if you know it, a state coordinator can add it from the admin page.
