Terms of use

The rules, in plain language.

Last updated 12 September 2026

By using chatterback.net you agree to these terms. They’re short on purpose. ChatterBack is operated by One Overland LLC, Tulsa, Oklahoma (ā€œweā€).

1. The service

ChatterBack is a community directory and forum for GMRS, amateur radio, Meshtastic and MeshCore. It is provided free, as-is, and may change or pause at any time. We’ll try to give notice for anything big.

2. Your account

  • You must be 18 or older, or the family member of a licensee using it with them.
  • One account per person. Keep your password to yourself; you’re responsible for what happens under your login.
  • Callsigns you verify must be yours (or your family licence, for GMRS). Claiming someone else’s licence or station is grounds for removal.

3. Your content

  • You own what you post. By posting, you give ChatterBack a licence to display, store and distribute it as part of the service, including in feeds, on maps and in search.
  • Wiki articles and listing edits are different: they’re contributed to the community under CC BY-SA 4.0. Every revision is kept and attributed. Anyone may edit them.
  • Don’t post what you don’t have the right to post - other people’s photos, copied articles, private messages.

4. Conduct

Be the operator people are glad to hear. Specifically, don’t:

  • Harass, threaten or demean anyone.
  • Spam, advertise, or post the same thing across groups.
  • Publish someone else’s home address, phone or exact location without consent.
  • Deliberately post wrong repeater or node information, or claim stations you don’t run.
  • Encourage unlicensed or unlawful transmission. Repeater listings say ask owner for a reason.
  • Scrape the site in bulk or hit its APIs beyond what a person browsing would.

5. Moderation

Admins and state coordinators can remove content, lock wiki pages, reject claims and suspend accounts to keep the site useful. We’ll act on flags in good faith and explain when we can. Repeat or serious violations mean removal.

6. Radio information is community-maintained

Frequencies, tones, access levels, node positions and everything else in the directory come from members and public sources and may be wrong or out of date. Verify before you transmit, follow the licence terms for your service, and respect a repeater’s access level. ChatterBack is not affiliated with the FCC, the ARRL, Meshtastic, MeshCore, RepeaterBook or any club, and nothing here is legal or regulatory advice.

7. No warranty, limited liability

The service is provided ā€œas isā€ without warranties of any kind. To the extent the law allows, One Overland LLC is not liable for any loss arising from use of the site or reliance on information in it. Where liability can’t be excluded, it’s limited to the amount you paid us - which, for a free site, is nothing.

8. Ending things

You can delete your account any time from Settings. We can close accounts that break these terms. Sections 3, 6 and 7 survive either.

9. The boring but necessary

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Oklahoma, USA. If we change them materially we’ll post about it and update the date above. Questions: hello@chatterback.net.
